Occupational & Feeding Therapist

Allison Heitzinger MS, OTR/L


My name is Allison Heitzinger.

I am a mama to 4 littles and an Occupational and Feeding Therapist. I received a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Seattle University in 2011 and my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from A.T. Still University in 2014. I have been in private practice working alongside families in Arizona ever since. I enjoy the opportunity to come alongside families and help their children reach their full potential through building their confidence, skills, knowledge, and functional capabilities. When I am not in the clinic I am joyfully in the trenches of motherhood and love to bake, play games, garden, hike, run, and try new adventures.

My name is Melissa McCormick.

I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Brown Mackie College Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. I feel very blessed to have a career that focuses on helping amazing children develop skills and self-esteem through meaningful and fun activities. I have been working with children my entire life. From helping my mother raise my siblings, helping my aunt with her foster children, being a live-in nanny through my teen years as well as working with children with special needs at my church and for the school district, not to mention raising 2 amazing boys of my own. When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband Paul and my 2 boys Hunter and Blake. I also enjoy playing with my 2 dogs (Jade and Bear), my chickens (too many to list all their names), and gardening on my little farm.

Hi, my name is Cynthia Schmidt and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist. I have my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Fullerton and my Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Northridge. I have worked in many settings, including public schools, home based therapy, and outpatient clinics. I love the field of speech-language pathology and feel blessed to work with children.

Lora Stolz BS,SLPA


Hi, my name is Lora Stolz and I am a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in elementary education. I was an elementary teacher for 8 years in Northwestern Arizona and then I was a stay at home mom for 11 years. I went back to school to become an SLPA in 2013 at Estrella Mountain Community College and worked one year as that in a school setting, then taught 3rd grade last year at Imagine Rosefield. I found a love for speech therapy when my younger son needed early intervention and speech from ages 2-5.

My name is Mackenzie Haney, I am a passionate Occupational Therapist with a heart for children and families.  2021 graduate of Midwestern University with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy, I have dedicated my career to helping children reach their full potential.
With experience at North Valley Pediatric Therapy and a DMI introductory level A certification, I am committed to providing exceptional care. I believe in making therapy enjoyable, collaborating closely with families to ensure lasting progress.
Beyond my work, I find joy in outdoor adventures. When I am not helping kids thrive, you can find me on the water, wake surfing and soaking up the sun. I am also a board game enthusiast and I am currently training my dog to be a therapy companion.

Allison Wean PT, DPT


Hi, my name is Allison Wean

I graduated from Nazareth College, in 2018 with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I have worked in multiple in-patient and out-patient settings in the past, but now focus on working with children at Sonoran Sun. I truly enjoy teaching and assisting children in reaching new achievements and abilities. From those learning to crawl and walk and those recovering from a surgery or injury. In my free time, I love hiking with my dog, traveling, and exploring the Arizona.

Hannah Raby PTA


Hi, my name is Hannah and I am a Physical Therapist Assistant. Ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to work in the healthcare field. I also have a passion for working with children. I found my passion in Physical Therapy almost 4 years ago in a pediatric clinic. I was fortunate enough to get into a wonderful college, Pima Medical Institute, in 2017 and began my journey. I also have a deep love for the Theatre and enjoy singing and dancing in my spare time. I am hoping to incorporate singing and dancing with my treatments. I love working with kids to help them work towards their goals, so they can have the most fulfilling life possible!

It’s not every person who discovers what they want to be when they grow up in their 40’s. But it sure was me! Helping children communicate their wants, needs and feelings gives me joy every day.
After years in Sales management and more years as a mom, I found my calling. Going back to school in your 40’s is no joke. It was worth every moment. I love my work and helping the families at Sonoran sun

My name is Rachel Perez.
I am happy to say I am the Patient Care Coordinator here at Sonoran Sun Pediatric Therapy. I was born in Pennsylvania, my family moved to Arizona when I was just 3 years old. I am married, with 2 daughters and 2 sons, as well as 2 grandbabies. I love to work with children. I worked in a developmental preschool for 10 years before joining the Sonoran Sun team. I enjoy spending time with my family, whether it’s a summer trip or just having dinner together.

Kendall Lohman MS, CF-SLP


Hi, my name is Kendall Lohman,
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow here at Sonoran Sun. I previously was a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant since 2016 and have worked in various settings such as out-patient clinics, public schools as well as home based therapy as an SLPA. I continued to work as an SLPA while I was going to graduate school to receive my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In 2022, I then received my Master of Science in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and then started my clinical fellowship here at Sonoran Sun. I really wanted to be able to help make a difference in people’s lives with the most basic skill everyone deserves to have, communication. Everyone deserves a voice and what better way than to work in the field of Speech-Language Pathology! In my free time I love to workout at the gym, hiking, gardening, getting to travel to new places and exploring new adventures.

My name is Marilyn Daugherty,

I’m a Speech Language Pathologist and also work with children with feeding difficulties at Sonoran Sun Pediatric Therapy.  I’m originally from outside Chicago, Illinois but have been living in the Valley of the Sun for the past twenty-three years.  I have always worked in the disability field holding different interesting and challenging positions.  Making communicating fun is my number 1 priority.  I know that all children can learn and communicate, but some need some help finding their voice.

Hi my name is Sandra,

I received my Bachelors of Applied Science and my Masters of Education in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma.  I have been working in the field of Speech-Language Pathology for 26 years.  My experience ranges from schools, home health, hospital, inpatient, and outpatient settings.  I absolutely love my career!!!   I feel truly blessed helping clients/families communicate their wants and needs in a  meaningful way.  

In my spare time, I enjoy being with my dogs (Smokey & Buddy), watching movies, going to the gym, and being with my family.
