Current Covid-19 precautions

Current Covid-19 precautions
While we are still practicing the extra cleaning and disinfecting steps in the clinic, we are no longer enforcing the wearing of face masks. Masks are still welcome and encouraged, especially if you are not vaccinated; however we will leave the decision in your hands. Our therapists have this same freedom. If you would like your therapist to wear a mask while treating your child, just ask! We are happy to accommodate. If you suspect you or your child has been exposed to Covid-19, please call the clinic as soon as possible to cancel your next appointment. Our policies regarding Covid-19 are subject to change, as we are following the recommendations of the CDC and the mandates enforced by the city, county, and state. Should there be a change in policy, we will update you via email and post the new policy in the lobby.

The actions we are taking

HELLO! Sonoran Sun Families,

Sonoran Sun Pediatric Therapy genuinely cares about the safety and well-being of all the families we serve, and our staff. Governor Ducey has deemed the prohibiting the closure of essential services. Occupational and Speech Therapy fall under this category. As of next week, we will continue to keep our clinic open. However, we have a limited staff and shortened our hours of operation. Our office will be open 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday unless you confirm your 8:00am appointment with us. We will not be seeing kids after 5:00pm at this time. These reduced hours are temporary.

If you or your child have developed symptoms such as: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or if you have traveled from an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19. We ask that you please stay home and contact our office to reschedule and call your primary healthcare provider.

For the safety of everyone, should any office staff, therapists, children, or caregivers come to the clinic displaying the above-mentioned symptoms you will be asked to leave. As we know, this situation is evolving daily.

Sonoran Sun Pediatric Therapy has been taking the following precautions for everyone’s safety:

  • We have significantly increased the cleaning at our clinic. Multiple times a day regularly used surfaces such as therapy balls, therapy mats, tables, door handles, light switches, restrooms will be disinfected.
  • We would like to ask that when you arrive at the clinic, please call the office and the therapist will come get your child from the car and at the end of the session, your child will be brought back out to you.
  • You can also come check in with the front desk as the sign in sheet has been removed. If you choose to sit in the lobby, our chairs have been moved to assist with practicing social distancing.
  • Your child will remain in the treatment room for the entire session and will not be interacting with other therapists or children.
  • We will wash our hands upon arrival and when the session is over. All objects used during each session will be sanitized at the end of each session. Therapists will clean all surfaces between every session.
  • We are asking all therapists and office staff members to stay home if they are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing.

When possible if a family would prefer in-home services, we can try to coordinate with a therapist and insurance company for teletherapy. Teletherapy is now approved for OT and ST during this time by AHCCCS plans and some private insurance companies! This is an excellent alternative to those wishing to practice social distancing.

For individuals, the CDC recommends the following to take precaution in preventing contraction of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then immediately throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

For additional resources and best practices for avoiding exposure, please visit CDC’s website.

You can also visit www.azhealth.gov/coronavirus or contact yourLocal Health Department for the most up-to-date news about the virus in AZ.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time. We hope that you, your families, and those around you are safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Sonoran Sun Pediatric Therapy Staff
